158 Tonne Test Bed
One of New
Zealand's largest and most modern Test Bed with pull capacity
of 1549kN
(158 Tonne) with bed length of 10.75 metres. Tested item
supplied with Computer illustrated graph Test Certificate.
This modern Test Bed incorporates two hydraulic rams, the
larger ram has capacity of 1549 kN (158 Tonne) and smaller
rams capacity is ---117 kN (12 Tonne). This was especially
incorporated into our purpose built Test Bed as there is
a need in New Zealand for accurate Testing on lighter W.L.L.
items. Our Test Bed was manufactured in U.S.A. as New Zealand
manufacturers did not have the modern Computerised technology
we required.
Testing all types of lifting gear:
- Chain slings, shackles
- Hoists, web slings
- Yacht rigging / fittings
TYPES OF TESTING
Proof Testing: (Non-destructive Testing) is a Standard Test
where a Proof Load force twice the W.L.L. of item been Tested
is applied, e.g. 10 Tonne Shackle Tested to 196 kN (20 Tonne).
Some larger items and Chain Blocks work on other Proof Load
factors.
Before any item is Proof Tested it must be thoroughly checked
and repaired first.
Break Load Testing: Is a destructive Test on an item that
requires to be broken to determine W.L.L. to verify design
calculations on a manufactured item, and to obtain Break
Load on sample of Wire Rope to verify condition etc.
Cycle Testing: Is a automatic repetitive Test which can
be applied for several hours or several thousand pulls,
e.g. if a simulated load was required on a Yacht Rigging
Stay Wire to determine calculated Break Load under extreme
working conditions. We are able to Proof Load this to maximum
load then release several times per minute until desired
results are obtained. This is automatically programmed into
our Test Bed.
Displacement Measurement System Testing: This Test measures
new stretch on a separate graph line on Test Certificate,
e.g. on a 16mm Chain Sling with a W.L.L. of 8 Tonne and
assuming Customer returns Chain badly stretched, and said
only 6 Tonne load was applied. We can select Displacement
Test in computer and apply Test force to Chain. Assuming
the Chain had an applied load of 24 Tonne, the new graph
line will show new stretch in Chain and we can determine
load Customer had applied.
Chain & Rigging Supplies Ltd recommends in-house re-certification
and Testing for all Lifting Gear.
